The Align capability inside Freestyle makes this easy. If you’re designing something like the pedal location geometry for a bicycle, you’ll need to align your freeform geometry directly to existing parametrically controlled geometry. Start with a primitive shape, like a cube or a sphere, and use intuitive tools to push and pull until you have the design you want, complete with curvature continuous production ready surfaces. We’ve designed the Freestyle modeling features inside Creo Parametric to give you much the same experience. You just pick it up and start shaping something. You don’t need to be a ceramic artist to appreciate how fun and easy it is to model forms with clay. Quickly Create Freeform Shapes and Surfaces during Concept Design Save time, reduce errors, and send Marketing a post card.ĥ. Instead, select and edit geometry and then head off for vacation knowing that the entire design will automatically update.

Never again get stuck rebuilding a model because you couldn’t update it without breaking the original constraints. Thanks to flexible modeling capabilities in Creo, you can accommodate even the most radical late-stage design changes. You still remember the name of the guy from Marketing who needed that design change on a Friday afternoon. Who knows what you’ll design thanks to this accelerated process? You can easily move, rotate, and even scale the sketch. Directly open your sketch onto a plane and display it along with other 2D and 3D geometry.

Capture your inspirations with Creo Sketch (a free download), and when you’re done, transfer your ideas to Creo Parametric. Your concept designs deserve better than a napkin. Easily Transform 2D Concepts into 3D Models Just think what you’ll create with the extra time you have.

Finally, the component placement constraints and 3D Dragger offer more intuitive workflows. It’s just as easy to restructure, rename, or reorder components. SSDs make that fast (and faster SSDs would probably improve over slower ones too, but I haven't really tried to test that.Use ‘view changes’ to quickly and easily find what’s been modified in your assembly.

Turns out that most CAD programs are actually a whole lot of little programs, that all have to be found, loaded, and called, on big files that are actually databases. The biggest speedup I've seen on a CAD workstation is moving to really fast SSD drives. Not sure about history-free modelers, but I think most of those are kinda faking it out. At least, that's true for history-based modelers. You don't have the inputs for later operations until you finish earlier ones. That's also why you can't really multithread CAD operations - you intriniscally must calculate one feature, then calculate the next. Moving the model and rendering it is a GPU task. Is the task that is slow one of moving the model around - requiring lots of rendering activity, or is it a task of rebuilding a feature tree? Calculating the geometry for a change is a CPU task inherently (although, I'm sure a GPU could be persuaded to help with the task, through something like CUDA, but not out of the box with current packages).
